Why SoilPulse AI starts with the phone you already own

Farmers told us they had phones but not email, preferred their own language, and wanted advice about their own soil. Here is how that shaped the app.

A large group of farmers gathered with the SoilPulse team outside a community building

When we started building SoilPulse AI, we asked farmers what got in the way of good advice. The answers were practical. They had phones, but not email. Many spoke Twi or Ewe more comfortably than English. And the advice they did get was general: it was not about their soil.

Every design decision since has come back to those three answers.

Sign up with a phone number

You create an account with the mobile number you already use, on MTN, Telecel, AirtelTigo or Glo. Email is optional, and you can add one later as a backup. Tell us your region and district, and you are in.

Advice in your own language

SoilPulse gives advice in English, Twi, Ewe, Ga and Hausa, so limited English or reading is never a barrier to good agronomy. You can type a question or send a voice note, and a field agent can answer the same way. Questions that need an expert are passed to a human advisor.

Advice about your soil, not soil in general

General tips are easy to find. What farmers asked for was advice about their plot. So SoilPulse starts from readings taken on your farm — moisture, pH, electrical conductivity, temperature and NPK — and from the boundary you walk with your phone. Recommendations match your soil, your crop and your location.

They had phones, but not email. They needed advice tied to their own soil.

Built for the connection you have

The app works on any smartphone and is designed to stay usable on the slower connections common in rural districts. Updates on weather, seasonal timing and markets are filtered to your region, so you never have to read through news meant for someone else.

Your data stays yours

Farm data belongs to the farmer. We never sell it, you choose what is collected and who sees it, and you can download everything we hold about you as one file at any time. Our Privacy Policy explains it in plain language.

What comes next

We are early: two sensor prototypes, one farm and two regions so far. The farmers we work with keep telling us what to build next, and we will keep writing about it here. If you farm in Ghana, you can create a free account today.
